Data Snack: Heartfelt Thanks

Numbers are rolling in. Some worrying. Some good. Some very good!

Third-quarter Voter Registration numbers are finally here from the Secretary of State. LD3 remains the second largest LD, less than 1000 voters behind the strategically critical LD17 around Oro Valley.

We have the third largest population of registered Republicans behind LD1 in Yavapai County and LD30, primarily in Mohave. Our 89,073 Republicans are 48.6% of LD3. Our percentage of registered Democrats came ever-so-close to regaining 20% share, but didn’t quite make it. We’re at 19.8%. 2.45 Rs for every D.

Since the Primary Election at the end of July, Republican Voter Registration has grown by 7.7% statewide vs 6.8% growth in Democrats and 6.1% for non-affiliated Independents. LD3 has grown: 4.8% for Dems, 5.3% GOP and 5% Ind. For us, that’s 4453 new Rs and 161 new Ds.

On the bright side, Maricopa County Supervisor District 3 is trending BLUE. GO Daniel Valenzuela! Democrats in LD3 have turned out at over 51% as of Friday. Second place, again, behind LD28 Sun City. Fountain Hills leads the County in overall turnout.

By the time you read this LD3 will have recorded canvassing over 9000 doors. That’s pretty good for our LD of 407 gated neighborhoods. Our largest Democratic precinct, Westworld, is scheduled for this last weekend of canvassing. Who knew half of the people will have already voted? Our canvassers will get the rest of them! The information we record in MiniVan is one of the critical components we contribute to making the party more effective. It helps every candidate.

LD3 Dems is a significant supporter of MCDP’s Turnout Improvement Project (TIP). Our volunteers have been generous with their time (and long-distance driving skills) to participate in this 100,000-door Lit Drop and 25,000-door mailer. By taking advantage of every day left, we are on track to meet this incredible goal. The best part is witnessing the new enthusiasm and self-activism in these blue districts. It matters!

Heartfelt thanks to LD3 Dems volunteers, canvassers, and drivers. Your work really does make a difference. Special thanks to those who stepped outside of their comfort zone to help where the need is greater.
