The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors are on the ballot every four years. Each supervisor represents one of the five districts governing the county. LD3 straddles three of the five.

In 2022, the County completed redistricting the Supervisory Boundaries. The new boundaries take effect January 1, 2024. BOS District 3 was a slightly Dem Leaning district in 2020. Whitney Walker lost to Bill Gates in 2020 by only 1.4%.

For 2024, with new borders, BOS3 is more firmly Democratic. As I was writing these words, Bill Gates announced he is not running again and Sal DiCicco indicates he is jumping in!! BOS3 is in play and may well be one of the most important (and expensive) races in the state.

Mark Kelly won the new BOS3 precincts in 2022 by 56.2%, Kris Mayes by 53.9%.

The bulk of LD3 is in BOS2. Even District 2 has become about 2% more Democratic. BOS2 precincts voted 47.7% for Kelly in 2022. It is within the competitive range, but with Galvin as the Republican incumbent.

Canyon Springs, our solitary precinct west of I-17, is in BOS4. Hickman is the supervisor in a very red district which is now even redder.

LD3 has the opportunity to make a significant contribution to changing the balance of power in Maricopa County.
